PNM (Public Utility of New Mexico), Exelon national utility, Pacific Gas &
Electric, and Nike have quit the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. I'm not renewing my
membership, either, in the Edgewood Chamber of Commerce. It's dishonest and corrupt
to smear the scientists who claim that global warming is a dire issue and to discount
the long term savings that could be provided by either a single-payer or a public
option healthcare plan.
Health
Care Reform?Apparently the American
Medical Association has weighed in on the new economic stimulus package and the
idea of socialized medicine plus Medicare reform .... The Allergists voted
to scratch it, but the Dermatologists advised not to make any rash moves. The
Gastroenterologists had sort of a gut feeling about it, but
the Neurologists thought the Administration had a lot of nerve. The Obstetricians
felt they were all laboring under a misconception. Ophthalmologists
considered the idea shortsighted. Pathologists yelled, "Over my dead body!"
while the Pediatricians said, 'Oh, Grow up!' The Psychiatrists thought the
whole idea was madness, while
the Radiologists could see right through it. The Pulmonologists said they
were holding their breath waiting for details. The Orthopedic surgeons thought
it would be a bad break! Surgeons decided to wash their hands of the whole
thing. The Internists thought
it was a bitter pill to swallow, and
the Plastic Surgeons said, "This puts a whole new face on the matter." The
Podiatrists thought it was a step forward, but the Urologists were pissed off
at the whole idea. The Anesthesiologists thought the whole idea was a gas,
and the Cardiologists didn't
have the heart to say no. In the end, the Proctologists won out, leaving the
entire decision up to the assholes in Washington ! |

Federal Mortgage Broker License These
last few years, there have been too many stories of hinky business practices in
the mortgage industry. Over time, nefarious deeds were snowballed into a national,
than an international economic catastrophe. You can't use the term "deregulation"
for an industry that wasn't regulated in the first place. But as every stockbroker
has a Federal license, every mortgage broker should have a Federal license. Each
customer would get a check-off list showing that all pertinent unique state mortgage
programs (ie, teachers home loan, MFA, police home loan) and special national
mortgage programs (ie, VA, FHA, USDA) were presented for the customer's consideration.
Each customer of a sub-prime mortgage should get a copy of at least one rejection
letter from a conventional lender. - Andrew Homer

We currently DO have "death panels." They're
called the Republican Party. Keeping the status quo, 22,000 people died unnecessarily
in 2008, because of a lack of affordable healthcare. But the Republinazis don't

Two great healthcare policy talking points: 1
- Why are Republicans so afraid of a public option? Don't they have faith in the
marketplace? 2 - Why don't the Republicans
give Obama what he wants regarding universal healthcare? If the Democrats fall
on their collective face, the Republicans can trounce in the 2012 election. |

Liberal commentary: Guns and the Political Party That
Can't Shoot Straight Facts: 30,000
Americans die every year from gun related injuries. Out of every 23 shootings,
22 of those happen to either the gun owner or a member of their family. 65% of
Americans register to vote. 11% of registered voters are either independents or
members of 3rd parties. For every 52 registered Democratic Party voters in New
Mexico there are 37 Republicans. Assumptions:
At least 90% of NRA membership is Republican. At least 70% of guns are owned by
Republicans. At least 80% of family members are members of the same political
party. Of the 30,000 gun-deaths each year, 19,500 were registered voters - 17,355
were a member of a major political party - 9,719 were Republicans - 7,636 were
Democrats. Conclusion: Percentage-wise,
those 9,719 gun-deaths cut into the Republican Party (37% of voters) each year
moreso than the 7,636 gun-deaths cut into Democratic Party (52% of voters). Us
lefties should encourage Republicans to buy as many guns as they can afford. Maybe
us lefties should even GIVE guns to Republicans - and for the ladies there are
pink automatics. Maybe we can get that Democrat-Republican ratio to 53-36. |

Too many people who stupidly got into an Adjustable Rate Mortgage are having difficulty
paying their higher monthly mortgage payments. In Canada, ARMs are handled by
adding months to the mortgage duration rather than increasing the monthly payment
due. So, the recent frenzy of foreclosures could have been prevented!!! But since
we have government of the predators, by the predators, for the predators - I don't
expect business practices or policy changes soon in the U.S. The tougher bankruptcy
laws passed a few years ago, written by bankers and not even challenged by Dennis
Kucinich, are another example of institutionalized sociopathy. |

Republican Racists Hold Out - Noticed that during his
debates with Senator Barack Obama, that Senator John McCain looked so angry that
he looked like he could hit someone? Well, that's how a redneck racist looks like
when they're in the same room with the target of their animosity. Likewise,
that's why the Republicans in Congress have withheld their votes on ANY bailout
bill. Racists hated Martin Luther King, Jr. because he proved that an African
American could be more spiritual than a white person - at least more spiritual
than white Republicans. Racist Republicans hate Barack Obama because he proves
a black person can be wiser than a white person - at least wiser than white Republicans. The
sociopathy within the unspiritual Republicans runs so deep that they want to punish
both the Democratic Party AND the 52% of American voters who elected Obama as
President. Rather than being either team players or decent Americans, the Republicans
are willing to have the national economy slide from recession into a depression
for revenge, because one of their fellow vapid racists wasn't placed into the

Jan 29 Me:
BUY AMERICAN - We have to STOP buying imported ANYTHING.
ALL of our clothing is imported. Yes, most of the best made cars are either German,
Japanese, or Swedish. But we're hurting the American economy every time we buy
foreign products. Buy Motorola, not Nokia. If you have to, only buy a Toyota,
Nissan or Honda if it was made in a factory in the US. Every time you buy any
import, a large percentage of that profit goes to a foreign manufacturer. So,
the profits the Chinese are making from us in unfair trade practices (ie, they
devalue the Chinese currency to make it too expense for Chinese to buy American
goods, but that also makes it affordable for Americans to buy Chinese goods). Our
spending habits are turning America into Argentina. Argentine factory owners rightfully
do NOT trust Argentine banks. So, the profits generated by Argentine manufacturers
are shuttled to banks in Miami or London. So, Argentine banks don't have much
capital to lend to start-up businesses. With so many American manufacturers shuttering
their factories here and setting up shop in China or India or Mexico; America,
too, is experiencing capital flight - except for when Chinese, Japanese or Europeans
buy up American real estate. The current economic
crises in America is multi-faceted. Yes, stupid home-buyers let themselves get
talked into unethical undoc Adjustable Rate Mortgages. Yes, unethical security
firms package flaky sub-prime mortgages with higher interest rates into risky
investment packages. Yes, we're hooked on foreign made cars and clothing and cell
phones and TVs. Yes, the shareholders of companies with foreign factories are
making a profit. But at least the American
consumer can stop the downward economic spiral. We
need to bring factories back to America. Stop buying Adjustable Rate Mortgages,
get documented for a lower interest rate loan. Every time an American consumer
is buying a foreign product we're hurting the American economy. Stop buying foreign
made products. BUY AMERICAN. |

Jan 28 Me:
Repair America - When it comes to cogently addressing the
Federal bailout of a sinking American economy, I defer to Chris Matthews and Jim
Cramer: Pay union workers, wearing hard hats, to repair bridges,
replace old water pipes, and repair roads.
(Me: We're still benefiting, today, for the long
range vision of FDR when he put Americans to work during the Depression of the
'30s by building Hoover Dam and the Tennessee Valley Authority.) Matthews
& Cramer point out that much more serious bailouts are underway in China and
Singapore. They say that a more credible bailout of a sinking U.S. economy should
be 10 times more than what's currently being proposed. Me:
So, if Republicans are already being obstructionists with the FIRST Obama bailout
bill, it's a safe bet that fewer Republicans will be re-elected in 2 years. Regarding
the war on terrorists, Republicans were more concerned with getting re-elected
than they were concerned with what's best for America. Now, regarding America's
economic downturn, again Republicans are obsessed with politics rather than what's
best for the country. Don't tell the Republicans, but they lost the last election.
Let Republicans be Republicans. And let us real Americans repair America. 2008

2008 Election Critique: Did We Get Change
We Can Believe In? Eloquence
over bumbling. Vision over greed. Future over past. Eros over thanatos. Making
friends rather than enemies. Being a team player on the global stage, rather than
being a maverick with a loose cannon. The
options were clear in the General Election of November 2008. I
thought Americans had learned their lesson about Republicans after "Tricky
Dick" Richard Nixon's Watergate break-in and his trying to stick Ted Kennedy
with the George Wallace assassination attempt. Apparently, the American voter
has a short memory. The Shrub, Jr.
administration lied to the American people 935 times leading up to the invasion
of Iraq. Not ONE of the 9/11 pieces of shit was from Iraq. Secretary of State,
General Colin Powell, quit when he realized that Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney
were lying to him. Civil rights and the Constitution ARE America. Those who erased
habeus corpus after 9/11 are pretend patriots, at best. Pure
immoral greed, such as at AIG, says fuck regulations - I'm going to screw everyone
else and flush the economy down the toilet, but I'll safely esconce my booty away
from the regulators. After they trashed the economy, it's ludacris that Republicans
expect anyone taking them seriously regarding course correction for the economy.
Real Christians are against the
death penalty and for universal healthcare. See what the policies are in every
country in the world with a cross on their flag. Those quibbling over expenses
regarding single-payer healthcare (fuck health insurance) are deliberately not
addressing the core issue: either you're a sociopath or you are not. With
medical costs rising three times faster than wages, medical costs have to be contained
immediately. America is the richest country in the world, but the dozen countries
with better longevity and higher birth rates all have socialized medicine at half
our costs. Not caring that at least
67% of those filing for bancruptcy is due to medical expenses, the Republicans
passed a harsher bancruptcy bill which was completely written by the banking industry.
Who are Republican politicians working for? There's
trying and there's results. If single-payer healthcare goes down in flames, as
I expect it will, that's not on Barack Obama. That will be on the sociopathic
worshippers of Satan, from both political parties, who vote against that bill.
Obama can't do all the heavy lifting - he needs more Bernie Sanders and Hillary
Clintons and Al Frankens on his team. John
McCain, Republican Presidential candidate, declared that he knew how to catch
Osama bin Laden. Why isn't he sharing his success formula with the U.S. Armed
Forces? - Andrew Homer |

In an article titled "Udall
Makes Appearance at Edgewood School" in today's Mountain View Telegraph,
as a non-candidate attendee, I was given more coverage than a U.S. Senate candidate,
the State Attorney General, or the two Congressional candidates who gave presentations
at an East Mountain lunch picnic and Democratic Party rally last Tuesday. Excuse
my modest intuition, but just as everyone was leaving the picnic and Lee Ross,
a Mountain View Telegraph reporter, started asking me questions, I knew I'd be
quoted out of context. After-all, skewing the truth is where Republicans excel. I'll
provide, here, the context: Ross
wrote, "The Bush Administration lied to the American people, he said." What
I stated was that every Federal and military intelligence agency is on record
declaring that the current White House administration lied to the American people
regarding the build-up to the second invasion of Iraq. I
could have added that it's documented that former Secretary of Defense Donald
Rumsfeld installed a speech writer into an empty office in the Pentagon and was
instructed by Rumsfeld to fabricate storys about Iraq. Also,
I could have added that, recently, Vice President Dick Cheney has been found to
instruct a defector Iraqi government official to write a letter of falsehoods
pretending that there was a connection between the regime of Saddam Hussein with
al Qaida. |
Ross,
also, wrote, "He added that the investment in money and lives in the conflict
in Iraq has yielded little for the American people and he likened Republicans
to Nazis." What I said was that in Germany
there were Satan worshippers who fabricated excuses why German troops had to die.
Here in America, there are Satan worshippers who fabricate excuses why American
troops have to die. There are necessary wars
and unnecessary wars. It was necessary that America got involved in World War
Two. The death of over 58,000 American troops in the Viet Nam conflict was completely
unnecessary. Stopping genocide in southeast Europe was necessary. 4,300 dead American
troops in the second invasion of Iraq is senseless, especially while recently
deposed Pakistan President Perzez Musharraf has $8-billion of American tax money
and Osama bin Laden is still running free in Pakistan. |
Reporter
Ross wrote, "As far as I'm concerned, Republicans are pseudo-Americans, not
real Americans, he said." What I said
was that real Americans honor the Constitution and know the importance of civil
rights. But it appears that Republicans behave as if the Constitution is a joke
and that civil rights are a farce. The recent Republican attack upon habeus corpus
is a case in point. It's a coin toss who hates
civil rights in America more. The Islamics overseas or the Republicans in this
country? Tim McVey's bombing of the Federal building in Oklahoma City is a case
in point. I doubt that McVey's voter registration card had the word "Democratic"
on it. Hurting people, either literally or figuratively, is something Republicans
do. Every time I hear a racist comment at a Moriarty Chamber of Commerce luncheon,
it's always made by a Republican. Also, I said
real Americans want to save the lives of American troops, not waste them. Going
back to the Korean War, it appears that the Republicans are hell-bent on trying
to put as many American military into a body bag as they can. Thus decimating
America's ability to defend itself. |
In
these financially strapped times, I can appreciate that the Mountain View Telegraph
couldn't afford to send a real journalist to the Democratic Party fundraiser,
but could only send a graduate of the Rush Limbaugh-Ann Coulter-Jerome Corsi School
of Journalism Ethics. - Andrew Homer PS

the interview, Ralph says that Obama is "a corporate candidate from A to
Z." Ralph condemns Obama's speech to AIPAC
and calls Obama the "panderer in chief." Please
forward this Democracy Now interview to five of your friends and family now. Compatibility
videoDuring the interview, Ralph promotes the idea of VotePact. Here's
how it works. Let's say you live in a swing
state. Like Michigan. Where
it's a virtual dead heat between McCain and Obama. This
week it's McCain 42, Obama 41. Doing the math,
that leaves 17 percent of the population of Michigan who don't like either of
the corporate candidates. (Last we heard, Ralph
Nader was at ten percent in Michigan - and that's with approaching zero mainstream
media publicity.) Okay, so let's say you are
a Michigan Democrat who doesn't exactly care for Obama's pro-right-wing AIPAC
stance on the Middle East. You'd prefer to
vote for the peace candidacy Nader/Gonzalez, but you are concerned about throwing
Michigan to the war hawk McCain. What to do? Pick
up the phone and call a friend, or a relative, who is a moderate anti-Iraq war
Republican. That Republican would like to vote
for the anti-war Nader/Gonzalez ticket, but he is concerned that if he does, he
will tilt the election to Obama. You get together
with that Republican and both of you decide to vote for Nader/Gonzalez. That
way, Nader/Gonzalez get two votes, McCain and Obama get zero. Nothing
"spoiled." This idea is called VotePact. We
like it. Why? It
gives Nader/Gonzalez a chance to win in swing states. (In
non-swing states, you can vote for Nader/Gonzalez straight up without fear of
"spoiling" anything.) If VotePact
catches on in Michigan, Nader/Gonzalez could move from 10 percent to 20 percent. And
with Nader/Gonzalez at 20 percent, people will sense a three way race. Get
Nader and Gonzalez on the debates, and 30 percent becomes possible. And
30 percent is striking range in a three-way race. So,
anytime you run into someone who is concerned about "spoiling" it for
Obama or McCain, tell them about VotePact. |

Country
of Laws by Ralph NaderThe
Governor of New York, Eliot Spitzer, has resigned for being a longtime customer
of a high-priced prostitution ring. The President
of the United States, George W. Bush, remains, disgracing his office for longtime
repeated violations of the Constitution, federal laws and international treaties
to which the U.S. is a solemn signatory. In his forthright resignation statement,
Eliot Spitzerthe prominent corporate crime busterasserted that Over
the course of my public life, I have insisted, I believe correctly, that people,
regardless of their position or power, take responsibility for their conduct.
I can and will ask no less of myself. In
a recent speech to a partisan Republican fund-raising audience, George W. Bush
fictionalized his Iraq war exploits and other related actions, and said that next
January he will leave office with his head held high. Eliot
Spitzer violated certain laws regarding prostitution and transferring of money
through banksthough the latter was disputed by some legal expertsand
for such moral turpitude emotionally harmed himself, his family and his friends. George
W. Bush violated federal laws against torture, against spying on Americans without
judicial approval, against due process of law and habeas corpus in arresting Americans
without charges, imprisoning them and limited their access to attorneys. He committed
a massive war of aggression, under false preteneses, violating again and again
treaties such as the Geneva Conventions, the UN Charter, federal statutes and
the Constitution. This war and its associated
actions have cost the lives of one million Iraqis, over 4000 Americans, caused
hundreds of thousands of serious injuries and diseases related to the destruction
of Iraqs public health facilities. As the popular button puts it, "He
Lied, They Died". From the moment the
news emerged about Spitzers sexual frolics the calls came for his immediate
resignation. They came from the pundits and editorialists; they came from Republicans
and they started coming from his fellow Democrats in the Assembly. Speaker
Sheldon Silver told Spitzer that many Democrats in the Assembly would abandon
him in any impeachment vote. George W. Bush
is a recidivist war criminal and chronic violator of so many laws that the Center
for Constitutional Rights has clustered them into five major impeachable High
Crimes and Misdemeanors (under Article II, section .4) Scores
of leaders of the bar, including Michael Greco, former president of the American
Bar Association, and legal scholars and former Congressional lawmakers have decried
his laceration of the rule of law and his frequent declarations that signify that
he believes he is above the law. Many retired high military officers, diplomats
and security officials have openly opposed his costly militaristic disasters. Only
Cong. Dennis Kucinich (Dem. Ohio) has publicly called for his impeachment. No
other member of Congress has moved toward his impeachment. To the contrary, Speaker
Nancy Pelosi (Dem. Calif.), Rep. Steny Hoyer (Dem. MD) and House Judiciary Committee
Chairman, John Conyers (dem. Mich.) publicly took impeachment off the table
in 2006. When Senator Russ Feingold (Dem. Wisc.)
introduced a Resolution to merely censure George W. Bush for his clear, repeated
violations of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Acta felonyhis
fellow Democrats looked the other way and ignored him. Eliot
Spitzer came under the rule of law and paid the price with his governorship and
perhaps may face criminal charges. George W.
Bush is effectively immune from federal criminal and civil laws because no American
has standing to sue him and the Attorney General, who does, is his handpicked
cabinet member. Moreover, the courts have consistently
refused to take cases involving the conduct of foreign and military policy by
the president and the Vice President regardless of the seriousness of the violation.
The courts pronounce such disputes as political and say they have
to be worked out by the Congressi.e.. mainly the impeachment authority. Meanwhile,
the American people have no authority to challenge these governmental crimes,
which are committed in their name, and are rendered defenseless except for elections,
which the two Party duopoly has rigged, commercialized, and trivialized. Even
in this electoral arena, a collective vote of ouster of the incumbents does not
bring public officials to justice, just to another position usually in the high
paying corporate world. So, on January 21,
2009, George W. Bush and Dick Cheney will be fugitives from justice without any
Sheriffs, prosecutors or courts willing to uphold the rule of law. What
are the lessons from the differential treatment of a public official who consorts
with prostitutes, without affecting his public policies, and a President who behaves
like King George III did in 1776 and commits the exact kinds of multiple violations
that Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and other founders of our Republic envisioned
for invoking the impeachment provision of their carefully crafted checks and balances
in the Constitution? Well lets see. First,
Bush and Cheney are advised not to travel to Brattleboro or Marlboro Vermont,
two New England towns whose voters, in their frustrated outrage, passed non-binding
articles instructing town officials to arrest them inside their jurisdictions. Second,
George W. Bush better not go to some mens room at an airport and tap the
shoe of the fellow in the next stall. While one lame-duck Senator barely survived
that charge, for the President it would mean a massive public demand for his resignation. We
certainly can do better as a country of laws, not men. |

Mar 19 - Former New York governor, Eliot Spitzer ("Spitzer? I didn't
even know her!"), declared his involvement with hookers and his replacement,
David Paterson, declared his own prior affairs. The bumper sticker slogan for
Virginia is "Virginia is for lovers." For New York state, I propose
a new bumper snicker slogan: "New York is for swingers." 2008
Mar 18 - The part I didn't like about David Paterson, the new New York
governor, with his wife, Michelle, at yesterday's press announcement regarding
his having extra-marital affairs, was the fact he kept winking at the camera. 2008
Mar 10 - Regarding the "Daylight Savings Time" crap: As a prospective
employer, my top concern is for my underlings getting to & from work safely.
I have a better idea rather than just moving the work day schedule up one hour.
It makes sense to center the middle of the work day on local noon, right? It makes
sense to have folk not be in traffic when the sun is near the horizon, right?
So, if you normally have an 8-hour work day, then have a 9-hour work day, centered
around local noon, during the 91-days of the most sunlight. And have a 7-hour
work day, centered around local noon, during the 91-days of the least sunlight.
So, over the course of a 12-month period an employee's work schedule evens out
- - and their safety is taken into account. - AH

Mar 5 - Dennis Miller & Bill O'Reilly have interesting observations
why Hillary Clinton won the primaries in Ohio and Texas, yesterday. But Marcella,
my wife, I believe has the more valid comment. For
years I've declared that one of the tactics of Communists is to exploit the vulnerabilities
of the electoral process of a country, then once they have control - hasta la
vista legit elections. It appears that the Republican Party has borrowed a page
from the Communist Party playbook. The Bloomberg-Los
Angeles Times poll shows that while Barack Obama would loose to John McSame by
2 points, that Hillary Clinton would loose by 6 points. In
states with open primaries, such as Ohio and Texas, Republicans can vote in Democratic
primaries. So, people as Republican radio comedian Rush Limbaugh have been instructing
Republicans to vote for Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primaries. The
Limbaugh factor: the Dallas Herald stated that 8% of those who voted in the Texas
Democratic primary were Republicans, but the exit polls showed that most of them
voted for Barack Obama. So, Marcella sez: "Right,
and I'm the Queen of England." |

Feb 17 : The best way for the 3 final Presidential
candidates to improve their odds of winning the General Election is by their choice
of a running mate for Vice President. Senator
Hillary Rodham-Clinton should pick her husband Bill Clinton, the 42nd President,
to be her VP. When John Edwards was still running, a poll found that Bill Clinton
was more popular than any of the 3 candidates. While Bill can't run again for
re-election as President, there's nothing regarding his becoming Vice President. Senator
John McCain should pick Condoleezza Rice, current U.S. Secretary of State. Though
Rice can do a throwdown with Obama's race and Clinton's gender, both Rice and
McCain are tied to an unpopular war which even many Republicans are, now, criticizing.
I know McCain won't do it, but a better chance of getting Democratic voters would
be to recruit Ron Paul as his Vice President. Senator
Barack Obama should pick General Wesley Clark, former commander of NATO allied
military forces. John McCain will resort to stinging commentary that Obama doesn't
have what it takes to protect Americans from terrorists. Having Gen. Clark on
his team should help Obama to shut-up McCain. |

Jan 21 - WHAT THE CANDIDATES AVOID by
Ralph Nader Here is a short list of what
you won't hear much of from the front-runners in this presidential primary season.
Call them the candidate taboos. * You won't
hear a call for a national crackdown on the corporate crime, fraud, and abuse
that have robbed trillions of dollars from workers, investors, pension holders,
taxpayers and consumers. Among the reforms that won't be suggested are providing
resources to prosecute executive crooks and laws to democratize corporate governance
so shareholders have real power. Candidates will not shout for a payback of ill-gotten
gains, to rein in executive pay, or to demand corporate sunshine laws. *
You won't hear a demand that workers receive a living wage instead of a minimum
wage. There will be no backing for a repeal of the anti-union Taft-Hartley Act
of 1947, which has blocked more than 40 million workers from forming or joining
trade unions to improve wages and benefits above Wal-Mart or McDonald's levels. *
You won't hear for a call for a withdrawal from the WTO and NAFTA. Renegotiated
trade agreements should stick to trade while labor, environmental, and consumer
rights are advanced by separate treaties without being subordinated to the dictates
of international commerce. * You won't hear
a call for our income tax system to be substantially revamped so that workers
can keep more of their wages while we tax the things we like least, such as pollution,
stock speculation, addictive industries, and energy guzzling technologies. Nor
will you hear that corporations should be required to pay their fair share; corporate
tax contributions as a percent of the overall federal revenue stream have been
declining for 50 years. * You won't hear a
call for a single payer health system. Almost sixty years after President Truman
first proposed it, we still need health insurance for everyone, a program with
quality and cost controls and an emphasis on prevention. Full Medicare for everyone
will save thousands of lives a year while maintaining patient choice of doctors
and hospitals within a competitive private health care delivery system. *
There is no reason to believe that the candidates will stand up to the commercial
interests profiting from our current energy situation. We need a major environmental
health agenda that challenges these entrenched interests with major new initiatives
in solar energy, doubling motor vehicle fuel efficiency, and other quantified
sustainable and clean energy technologies. Nor will there be adequate recognition
that current fossil fuels are producing not just global warming, but also cancer,
respiratory diseases, and geopolitical entanglements. Finally, there will be no
calls for ending environmental racism that leads to more contaminated water, air,
and toxic dumps in poorer neighborhoods. *
The candidates will not demand a reduction in the military budget that devours
half the federal government's operating expenditures at a time when there is no
Soviet Union or other major state enemy in the world. Studies by the General Accounting
Office and internal Pentagon assessments support the judgment of many retired
admirals and generals that a wasteful defense weakens our country and distorts
priorities at home. * You won't hear a consistent
clarion call for electoral reform. Both parties have shamelessly engaged in gerrymandering,
a process that guarantees reelection of their candidates at the expense of frustrated
voters. Nor will there be serious proposals that millions of law-abiding ex-felons
be allowed to vote. Other electoral reforms
should include reducing barriers to candidates, same day registration, a voter
verified paper record for electronic voting, run-off voting to insure winners
receive a majority vote, binding none-of-the-above choices and most important,
full public financing to guarantee clean elections. *
You won't hear much about a failed war on drugs that costs nearly $50 billion
annually. And the major candidates will not argue that addicts should be treated
rather than imprisoned. Nor should observers hope for any call to repeal the "three
strikes and you're out" laws that have needlessly filled our jails or to
end mandatory sentencing that hamstrings our judges. *
The candidates will ignore the diverse Israeli peace movement whose members have
developed accords for a two state solution with their Palestinian and American
counterparts. It is time to replace the Washington puppet show with a real Washington
peace show for the security of the American, Palestinian, and Israeli people. *
You won't hear the candidates stand up to business interests that have backed
changes to our civil justice system that restrict or close the courtroom to wrongfully
injured and cheated individuals, but not to corporations. Where is the vocal campaign
against fraud and injury upon innocent patients, consumers, and workers? We should
make it easier for consumers to band together and defend themselves against harmful
practices in the marketplace. Voters should
visit the webpages of the major party candidates. See what they say, and see what
they do not say. Then email or send a letter to any or all the candidates and
ask them why they are avoiding these issues. Breaking the taboos won't start with
the candidates. Maybe it can start with the voters. |

Nov 5 - In 1986, Michael Apted, a British photo-journalist released "28
Up," a film in which he interviewed a dozen Brits every 7 years, starting
with their being at the age of 7. Now, Michael Apted has just released "49
Up." There seems to be several conclusions regarding personality, attitude,
education, health, class, wealth, and even regarding a nation's economic policy.
Regarding the individuals,
it appears that people don't change very much. Their education level and wealth
are comparable to their parents. Regarding class and wealth, greater mobility,
obviously, provides more options and rounds out the edges. Regarding poor health,
with Britain's socialized medicine, bancruptcy and impending financial ruin isn't
an issue as it would be in the United States. While temporary financial hardship
may send an American to be forced to live under a bridge, in Britain there's subsidized
housing. There are those who
defy the odds. One guy who was destitute for awhile eventually became a city councilor
of London.

the problem at home and abroad. A recent survey

Aug 07 - The Democratic Presidential Candidates @ the AFL-CIO Forum,
in Chicago * Hillary
Clinton - She sounded authoritative. It seemed that Chris Dodd & Joe Biden
did her dirty work knocking Barack Obama and John Edwards. I believe Clinton went
up in the polls, tonight. * Dennis
Kucinich - With how emphatic, funny, and scoring points regarding implementing
universal healthcare, have the U.S. pull out of the WTO,
and have Congress fold-up the NAFTA tent; I believe Kucinich
went up in the polls, tonight. *
Chris Dodd - Dodd drove home the point that if America had the parlimentary
system (proportional representation) that would put an end to the two-party system
which gives us the pendulum swing which keeps placing a right-winger into the
White House, every time a Democrat loses the General Election. Hillary was nodding
in agreement. * Keith
Olbermann - Chris Matthews sounded like he was my co-chair of the Keith
Olbermann fan club - this MSNBC commentator did a superb job as the moderator.
I believe Olbermann went up in the polls, tonight. (Watch his Countdown show
Monday through Friday.) * AFL-CIO
- I think the reason the decision has yet to be made which Presidential candidate
to endorse, I believe that the unionists feel that Kucinich stole the show from
Clinton & Edwards. The phrase "union White House" was music to their
ears. |

Republican Presidential Candidate Actually Made a Good Point *
In the Republican Presidential candidate debate tonight,
Senator Brownback actually suggested that the money being wasted on an unnecessary
war in Iraq would be better spent on fighting the war on cancer, since 1500 Americans
die every day from that disease. - 06/05/07 |

2007
May 24 - Since American voters made it clear, in
2006, that they want a change in direction regarding the unnecessary war in Iraq,
it would be nice if the so called representatives in Washington, both Republican
AND Democratic, should give the American people what THEY want and bring the troops
OUT from the crossfire of someone else's civil war. If the Democrats were serious
about stopping this scam war, all they have to do is to send NO bill to the White
House thus eliminating Shrub, Jr from being able to veto any bill. No one from
Iraq was involved in 09/11, why did we attack there? Since 11 of the 09/11 terrorists
are from Saudi Arabia, why hasn't the U.S. attacked Saudi Arabia?

2006 Nov 27 - Regardless of White House denial,

2006 Nov 18 - Now
that the Democrats have control of the US Congress and the US Senate, each month
that the U.S. troops are still in Iraq reduces the odds that the Democrats will
keep their majority in the 2008 general election. The voters will assume that
the Dems are as innept as the Republicans, thus party alignment will appear to
be irrelevant to the voters come 2008.

Election 2006 and the Sins of the Republicans
When
all 16 national security agencies unanimously claimed that President George W.
Bush and his henchmen lied to the American people, sending American troops unnecessarily
into harms way in Iraq, the days of Republican domination in the U.S. were numbered.
Thank God the voters finally got smart and put the Democrats back into power. There
seems that there are only 2 media sources which had a cogent read of the political
pulse of the American people prior election day. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,
on the Comedy Central channel, was one. The other was The Economist magazine,
from London. The November 4th issue of The Economist had articles titled: "The
Real Cost of Climate Change," "The mid-terms: Goodbye to the permanent
majority?," "The Battle for Congress: Time to launch the ground war,"
"Lexington: Madame Speaker?" "Crash course: A political bestseller
list shows that Americans are concerned" and the cover story "The Vultures
Gather: America's mid-term elections". At
least someone is paying attention. Yesterday's elections showed that a majority
of the American voters finally woke up. Ralph
Nader observed that "conservative Republicans have been replaced by conservative
Democrats, so that there really is NO mandate for change."

I got kicked out of the Estancia Valeey Writers Guild since I'm not for a scam
war nor a Republican. I got harrassed out of
the State Green Party because a Republican, actress, adulterous, former wife stalked
me from California to New Mexico to smear my reputation as she did when we were
married. To set-up an itinerary for you regarding
your Spring '07 book tour: I
haven't gotten kicked out of the Unitarian Church of Albuquerque, yet, so I could
try with their Social Justice Committee. I
haven't gotten kicked out of the East Mountain Progressives (Dem club), yet, so
I could try there. I just attended a Democratic
Action Albuquerue Meet-Up, so I'm too new to be kicked out, yet. So, I could try
there. So, I'll forward your post to those
last 3, since I assume they have integrity (and grasp the Bill of Rights). So,
the Republicans succeeded in passing a law to courtmartial civialians in military
court? So, that means we can try Shrub, Jr;
Dick Cheney; and Donald Rumsfield for violating UCMJ, for committing treason for
"unnecessarily sending troops into harms way"? I'm
sure a few angry top brass would love to start the proceedings. -

I've only been in Democrat New Mexico since 1992, I've noticed that not even 10%
of real estate agents are "non-Republican." Trying to make it full time
in real estate in New Mexico, I just keep bumping into lying, slandering, mean
spirited Republicans. The only honorable Republican Realtor I've found is Kerry
Boyd, of Landsun Realty, in Santa Fe. (In
conservative New Mexico, those who call themselves Democrats, here, would be considered
Republicans if they ever moved to California, Florida, Massachusetts, or Wisconsin.) One
of my business-related strengths are "working the phones." Needless
to say, I was greatly non-plused when, a few years ago, the FTC said "no
more cold call solicitations." But there are 2 juicy exceptions to that pronouncement:
political organizations and charities/non-profits. So,
thanks to the relentless harrassment at the hands of slanderous Republican Realtors,
I will start "working the phones" for Democratic Party endeavors. As
Shylock stated: "The villany you teach me, I will execute." As of today,
the Democratic Party just got themselves a full-time effective operative with
mucho business saavy and prior fund-raising experience. (See Patricia
Madrid for Congress.) One
of the stupidiest things a person could do is to get mellow Drew angry. When I
get angry, I get results. I vow that the Republicans will learn that lesson the
hard way. After just getting
a solicitation call from a cool dude from the ACLU regarding their Guardian Program.
So, considering how often Republicans love to violate my civil rights (4 Republicans
for every one non-Republican), I'll apply for a job at the Albuquerque chapter
of the ACLU.

2006 Jul 07 - First there was hep cool Richard Branson,
of Virgin Galactic (UK), offering $100 million to match state taxpayers stake
in the Southwest Region Spaceport, under construction outside Truth & Consequences,
New Mexico.
Now, there's Steve
Bennett, of Starchaser Industries (UK), who will spend $100 million over the next
10-years to build a 120-acre Rocket City, west of Las Cruces and 50-miles south
of the Spaceport @ the intersection of Hwy 25 & Hwy 10. Rocket City will have
restaurants, retail outlets, a hotel, rocket manufacturing facilities, astronaut
training & housing, and a rocket garden with full size rockets. As Starchaser's
American HQ, there will be 300 employees at Rocket City. Besides launching payloads
from the Spaceport, Starchaser will, also, take paying passengers for flights.
(The press release didn't mention anything about returning the passengers. Ar
ar.) Move over Florida. There's
fewer clouds and less crappy weather in sunny and DRY New Mexico. |

2006 Jul 06 - Great new policy research regarding European
healthcare, see: Healthcare.
2006 Jun 30 - A gentleman came into a REALTOR®
office and attempted to purchase a property with an agent, telling them he was
also going to do other deals. The man put no money down and said he wanted to
close in three weeks, was moving his family out, and needed to build a handicap
ramp and make other changes to accommodate a disabled person. The buyer said it
was going to cost him $15,000 to perform the necessary work, and asked if the
seller would split the cost. The seller agreed, and the potential buyer asked
for the $7,500 cash up front. The agent told the seller that if the seller wanted
to go forward with the deal their office would not be involved because it sounded
like a scam asking for cash up front for repairs. The potential buyer was angry
when the seller said they were not going to pay the money up front, the buyer
then said he was not going to do business with the agent, firm or seller as he
walked out.

2006 Jun 30 - Today, all cell phone #s are being released
to telemarketing companies and you'll start to receive sell calls. You
will be charged for these calls (and they'll be more than annoying!).
To
prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222. It's
the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks
your number for five (5) years. You must call
from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different
phone number. HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS OR GO TO: www.donotcall.gov |

2006 May 2 - Now, there are 36 members of Congress who
have signed a petition to impeach President Bush.
2006 Mar 26 - Democrat Patricia Madrid, New Mexico State
Attorney General, is running for the 1st Congressional District. Her blog is @

For
the last 30 years, the Democrats have been running on the platform: "I'm
not a Republican." I hope Madrid gets a little more original than that.
2005 Mar 24 - Pinch me - I'm dreaming - I never thought
I'd live this long to see this, but during the last few days:
*
1 - I find myself in agreement with retired Army intelligence officer Ralph
Peters, author of New Glory: Expanding America's Global Supremacy, when he states
that Americans are revolutionaries and that we have to continue to war to both
defend and promote our emancipation values. *
2 - Then, Republican U.S. Representative Heather Wilson, from New Mexico, was
playing footsy with Bill Maher on his Politically Incorrect TV show, where she
said that the American public was duped by President Shrub, Jr regarding his reasoning
to invade Iraq. * 3
- Then, at the 2006 state convention of the Democratic Party of New Mexico, the
delegates voted to IMPEACH President Shrub, Jr. See

and ready to work full-time." - National Association
of Realtors
Damn, now
they tell me! To buy property in New Mexico, visit my website: RealtyShowcaseUS.
2005 Dec 3 - Congressperson Heather Wilson, of Albuquerque
New Mexico, wants an investigation of Janet Jackson's exposed tit, but NO investigation
of the fabricated reports which lead to the 2nd invasion of Iraq. Who is Leather
working for?? (Republican, of course.)
2005 Nov - The Al Franken Show, my favorite on TV, got
knocked off of cable/satellite, but you can still catch him on Air America Radio.
At least the Daily Show with Jon Stewart is still on.

2005 Oct 1 -"Make levees, not war"
2005 Sep 8 - Stop
Global Warming March.

2005 Sep 3 - all about Hurricane
Katrina.
2005 Sep 2 - In the gulf coast region, after Hurricane
Katrina, it was the press who were the 1st responders. There's a reason the National
Guard are called national guard. Our National Guard aren't to be exported to fight
a politically motivated unnecessary war on the other side of the planet to get
an encumbent political party to be re-elected. - From
the Wilderness - Celine Dion: "We can send planes to bomb and kill, but
we can't send planes to pick up mothers and children."

2005 Sep 2 - The new season of Real Time with Bill Maher
started Aug 26. The new season of West Wing starts
Sept 25th.
2005 Sep 2 - My favorite commentators on TV: Al Franken,
Anderson Cooper, Bill Maher, Craig Ferguson, Chris Rock, David Letterman, Jay
Leno, Jon Stewart, & Keith Olberman. My favorite shows on TV: House, Brimstone,
Charlie Rose, Cupid, Dead Like Me, House, Travel with Rudi Maxa, & West Wing.

2005 Aug 17 - Al Franken & Prof. Uwe Reinhardt (of
Princeton U.) say what I have: that America should have publicly-funded healthcare.

2005 March - If Eli Chavez, of Albuquerque, runs for
Governor in New Mexico, he's using political strategy that he got from ME without
paying for it.

2004 Dec 1 - All of us old hippies know that marijuana
is benign. To put pot on the list regarding the War on Drugs is complete crap.
If anyone in Washington, DC is concerned about our health and well-being, it would
be TOBACCO and not marijuana that should be at the TOP of that list. Drug
War Facts & Common Sense
for Drug Policy.
But
on further reflection: knowing that the opinions of Republicans have NO
validation in reality, I'm glad that the drug warriors are keeping drugs out
of the hands of Republicans, too. We don't need those deranged wackos to get further
disassociated from terra firma.
2004 Nov 28 - Exxon Oil and Alyeska Pipeline hired Wackenhut
Security to frame whistleblowers after the oil spill off Valdez, Alaska. (The
Whistleblowers on The Investigators on Court TV)

2004 Nov 8 - Catch the most informative radio
or TV shows. Gee, ALL the muckraking commentators shows got cancelled off
of satellite TV so shortly after Shrub, Jr got re-elected. Who needs that pesky
fourth estate, anyways?

2004 Nov 3 - I used to enjoy watching Rush Limbaugh when
his TV show was shown in Albuquerque. In politics they advize to study the enemy.
So, I'd analyze Rush to see the various nefarious ways that the deranged Republicans
would distort the truth. (Like my first wife, who was Republican and a pathological
liar.)
Well, the LIES from those
commercials quoting other (Republican) swift boat comanders who NEVER met (Democrat)
John Kerry seems to have worked. The candidate who saw active duty and hostile
fire in war and received Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star lost the election. The
numb nut Republican Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates, neither who
saw active military duty, won the election. "Fairly" this time. Unlike
in 2000.
2004 Nov 1 - Everything you wanted to know about American
political parties, but were afraid to ask.
2004 Aug - A Republican dentist in Edgewood, New Mexico
deliberately over filed my new tooth cap, because he didn't like what he heard
I said about Republicans at the Moriarty Chamber of Commerce.
Within
3 years, I've been harrassed and slandered by Republicans at 5 different real
estate offices. The degenerates who think it's OK to slander in politics, also
smear the reputation of anyone who isn't as mean spirited as they are. | |
