Revisiting the Social Concept of Family

The Case Against Nuclear Families

1 - It's too easy for a loose cannon personality to terrorize members of the family.

2 - The financial burden of each family having to buy one of everything to get by.

3 - The meditative, thoughtful, studious person is more likely to be continually distracted by those who are more hungry for attention (ie, wife or children).

4 - There are FEWER options for baby sitters and role models for the children.

5 - Sons are MORE likely to commit crimes and LESS likely to graduate from college if parents separate.

The Case for Extended Families

1 - More folk onboard are likely to keep those with a volitle personality in check

2 - More families in an extended family can share the cost by sharing the use of cars, washing machine, lawn mower, utility bills, kitchen appliances, property tax, et al.

3 - Those who are more hungry for attention (ie, wife or children) have more options for companionship without having to distract those who are preoccupied with their projects.

4 - There are MORE options for baby sitters and role models for the children.

5 - Sons are LESS likely to commit crimes and MORE likely to graduate from college if parents separate.
