Attention the good people of Florida and California: With stress being evenly distributed throughout the structure (no surface area is stronger or weaker than another), domes are the BEST design to minimize the impact of high winds AND earthquakes. Buckminster Fuller's idea of numerous triangles forming a "geodesic" hemi-sphere doesn't apply to the superior spray-concrete design or to the economical yurt design. Read Fuller's book "Small is Beautiful." Alternative construction building plans are most easily approved in Arizona and New Mexico. |

- fax 972-483-6662 - The construction process included creating a steel-rebar reinforced concrete foundation, upon which was placed a fan-inflated Airform. Three inches of polyurethane foam were applied to the Airforms interior surface, and steel reinforcing bars were attached to the foam. A spray mix of 14,000 psi concrete called, Shotcrete was applied, embedding the reinforcing bars and creating a steel-reinforced concrete structure - Trained Professionals - Monolithic Dome Builders Association - Lenders. |
