Jung, Swedenborg & Synchrony
copyright by Andrew Homer 99-10-9 Synchrony
- "A synchronous occurence, movement, or arrangement." (dictionary)
Synchronous - "Occuring at the same time." (dictionary)
Representation - "One of the basic tenets of Swedenborg's theology is
that the visible world - the world of apparent realities that are perceptible
to the senses - is a representation of the spiritual." "All natural
things represent those which are of the spiritual things to which they correspond."
(Emmanuel Swedenborg) Correspondence - "Few know what representations
and correspondences are, nor can anyone know this unless he knows that there is
a spiritual world, and this distinct from the natural world; for there exists
a correspondence between spiritual things and natural things, and the things that
come forth from spiritual things in natural ones are representations. They are
called correspondences because they correspond, and representations because they
represent." (In Arcana Coelestia by Emmanuel Swedenborg)
Syncronicity - (Carl Jung) Astrology - "Astrology is Astronomy
brought down to Earth and applied to the Affairs of Man." (Ralph Waldo
Emerson) Hermetic Law - "'Indeed, the idea that the spiritual
world is the cause and the material world the effect appears in practically
all of the world's spiritual traditions in one form or another, it is most succinctly
expressed by the maxim of the hermetic and alchemical philosophers, 'As above,
so below'."
